The strategic role of information technology architecture

By celerix

In conceptual lines, the IT architecture can be understood as the area of information technology in charge of designing and implementing solutions based on the concepts of it, with various systems, technologies, services and products. It is this concept that allows companies to extract the best possible benefit from their assets, through the correct organization and design of environments and facilities that can affect the performance of the entire infrastructure. Currently, the strategic level of this activity has increased considerably, since, with technological advances, companies have become very dependent on their systems and hardware, and these, in turn, became indispensable for most processes. This undoubtedly increases the demand for professionals — it architects — with extensive technical expertise in different disciplines, and who can identify and evaluate alternatives to reach the solution that best meets the needs of the business. For this, competencies are needed as a domain of systems design methodologies, modeling techniques, consulting skills and project management, as well as attributes such as leadership, communication, teamwork and negotiation skills.
